What is 'Have Your Say'?

'Have Your Say' is an opportunity for members of the local community to raise topics of local interest with Amber Valley Borough Council's Cabinet Members and representatives from Derbyshire County Council and the Police.

The 'Have Your Say' events (formerly known as Local Community Forums) currently link to the Borough Council's Cabinet meetings and take place at various locations around the Borough, usually commencing at 6pm.



I have an issue I want to raise - how do I go about it?

The event offers two ways for you to raise questions:

One to Ones - at the start of the event (from 6pm until 6.20pm), you have the opportunity to informally approach the Cabinet Members at the event and ask your question or raise your concerns individually. Your question or concerns can relate to any matter and are dealt with directly.

General Question and Answer Session - halfway through the event, a general question and answer session will take place. You can ask a question on any matter by completing one of the question sheets (to be made available at the start of the event) and handing it to the Chairman. The Chairman will then put your question 'to the floor' and an answer will be provided by the Cabinet Members or partner representatives, where possible.  All questions raised during this part of the event will be included in the Notes of the event, together with the responses given.  These Notes are then circulated to everyone who attended (provided they have given their contact details). Questions for this session can be submitted in advance by completing the question form in the bottom right hand corner of this page.



'Have Your Say' - Background Information

Local Community Forums were established in Amber Valley back in May 2007. Notes from each of the Forums are available on this website.  In late 2010, the Local Community Forums were re-branded as 'Have Your Say' events and were scheduled to take place for an hour prior to each Cabinet meeting, with Cabinet Members going 'on the road' to meet with members of the local community at various locations throughout the Borough.  Notes from all 'Have Your Say' events are available to view on this website.
